About Us

OVERVIEW

The Nampayio Koriata Fistula Trust (NAKOFIT), founded by Nampayio Koriata advocates for FGM survivor and fistula, plays a pivotal role in addressing the mental health, safeguarding, and emotional well-being of FGM survivors in the Maasai community of Narok East Sub-county, Kenya.

Nampayio Koriata Fistula Trust is a declared trust under the Registration of Documents Act, Cap 285 laws of Kenya and the Trustees Perpetual Succession Act, Cap 164 Laws of Kenya.

The trust came into existence after living with fistula for record 12 years to save other women from the dangers of fistula herself being a survivor and victim. Concerned for the rampant cultural and traditional norms and poor quality Reproductive Health Care and Hygiene among women in her pastoral Maasai community on the silent suffering due to obstetric fistula condition, the founder Nampayio Koriata felt the need to establish the Trust so as to reach out and assist such women access medication and leave normal lives.

Nampayio Koriata Fistula Trust has widen its activism and advocacy to other pastoral communities within and outside the country. The founder believes that there are hundreds of other women who are out of ignorance have been suffering from low self-esteem and stigmatization due to fistula condition and that with solid campaigns, awareness and support from stakeholders they can be able to gain their happy lives back.

For more information or support, individuals can contact NAKOFIT directly or reach out to local health facilities and community organizations involved in anti-FGM initiatives.
